Berlin Airlift Cigarette Case

Offered is a neat piece of history.  A metal souvenir cigarette case engraved for a US soldier involved with "Operation Vittles", the Berlin Airlift.  Case is a standard souvenir type case with a map of the US occupation zone in Germany and the addition of an enameled European Air Forces insignia.  Case came standard with "US Occupation Zone" and "1949" date engraved in the lid.  Professionally added to the front lid are "Rhein Main Air Force Base" the soldier's name, "Jimmy Price", "Germany" and additional dates "1948" and "50".  The "50" was scratched into the lid.  Rear lid was engraved with "Operation Vittles".

I can not confirm, but the only member of the Berlin Airlift I could find reference to as a possible owner of this case is Major General James L. Price.  General Price was then a Major attached to the 61st Troop Carrier Group as a flight commander in 1948.  He then served with the 86th Fighter Bomber Group from 1949-51 in Germany.

Case measures 3x4".  Lid opens and closes fine.  A very unique item!
